Why Halifax

Halifax is the natural home for an aquarium of regional significance. It is a harbour city, an Atlantic gateway, a tourism anchor, a cruise destination, a university centre, and a place deeply connected to the ocean.Our goal is to explore how a major aquarium could strengthen the waterfront, extend year-round visitation, support education, and create a lasting public asset for Nova Scotia and Atlantic Canada.

Our Vision

We envision a destination that brings Atlantic sea life to the forefront through immersive exhibits, interpretation, architecture, and public programming.The ambition is not to create a generic attraction, but a place that reflects the North Atlantic: cold-water ecosystems, marine biodiversity, coastal culture, ocean science, and the broader identity of Halifax as a city shaped by the sea.

A Project With Purpose

Our hopes for the Halifax Aquarium are clear: to create a meaningful public destination, celebrate Atlantic marine life, support learning and conservation, strengthen the waterfront, and give Halifax a signature experience with lasting cultural and economic value.This is an ambitious idea, and we are approaching it with commitment, discipline, and long-term perspective.
